Last Night's Sky

Privacy

There are no accounts and no advertising.

If you choose to follow an event, we store your email address and the event id, and use them for exactly one thing: emailing you when that event changes. Every email contains an unsubscribe link that deletes the record immediately.

If you opt into observing alerts, we additionally store the location and equipment details you submit with your email, used solely to compute what is visible from your sky. Browsing the Tonight page never sends your location to us — that math runs in your browser; only the explicit alert signup transmits it. Unsubscribing deletes the profile and its alert history immediately.

The site keeps a small cache of recent sky data in your browser's local storage so an outage doesn't blank the page; it never leaves your browser.

Hosting (Vercel) produces standard, aggregate request logs used to keep the site running.
